Historian John Smith will be giving a lecture about Roman military at Corinium Museum on Thursday, May 31.

The lecture begins at 7pm and will explore archaeological evidence of Roman military equipment through re-enactmentand how this translates into creating a picture of the Roman soldier.

John Smith has been involved in archaeology for 40 years. His special area is the Roman Army, particularly in the West Country.

Thirty years ago he was one of the diggers at Lake Farm, Wimborne - a Roman Legionary base.

The Corinium Museum tells the story of archaeology across the Cotswolds with an emphasis on discoveries from Roman Corinium.

A vibrant temporary exhibition programme takes place throughout the year.
