DRAGONBOAT Regatta will return this month and looks ready to set Gloucester alight.

Originating in China 2000 years ago the dragonboat race has become a tradition for residents and visitors from afar.

The event will be held in the Gloucester Docks on Sunday, May 13 with racing set to start at 10am until 6pm and admission is free.

Steve Markham, one of the organisers said: "Everything is ready for another bumper day, fingers crossed the weather will be dry and sunny, but come what may there will be lots going on in the Docks to keep young and old entertained.

"In between races we have arranged a funfair, lots of stalls, face painters and musical entertainers so there’s sure to be something for all the family."

All funds raised from this years race will go to charities both home and abroad, with the main beneficiary this year being the James Hopkins Trust.
