On one of the hottest days of the year so far, the spring match between the Cirencester seniors' and ladies took place.
The seniors won four of the six matches.
Elsewhere, Cirencester faced Ross-on-Wye. Wins of 5&4 for captain Keith Hodgson and partner Bob Allen, Andy Ponting & partner Phillip Needham with a win of 3 & 2, Mike Burbage & vice captain David Lowbridge with a 5 & 4 win, club captain David Soar & partner Chris Berens, with a halved match.
However, then the wheels fell off and all the other matches were lost so the final result was a win for Ross-on-Wye of 4 1/2 to 3 1/2.
Meanwhile, the monthly Stableford competition was heavily subscribed with 90 entrants and was hotly contested with Bob Allen scoring a hole in one on the 18th and nine two’s being scored on the par 3 holes.
Division One was headed by Andrew Ponting who scored 38 points separated from Mark Woodhead in second only by countback. Third came Paul Stephens with 37 points followed in fourth & fifth by Graham Clarke & Charles Reed. Division Two was won by David Neale on 37 points followed by Richard Rollett on 35 and Steve Page also on 35 points. David Lowbridge & Brian Hammond occupied fourth & fifth places.
