Oxford City Nomads 1

Fairford Town 1

DESPITE being without 16 players through injury or unavailability, Fairford Town turned in a determined display to take a point from Tuesday night’s trip to Oxford City Nomads, writes Chris Tanner.

The hosts went into the encounter in the comfort of mid-table, whilst the visitors knew the importance of taking something from the game as they strive to retain Premier Division status.

Fairford made a good start with Lee Smith scoring his 21st goal of the season on his 42nd outing of a busy campaign.

However, the hosts restored parity before the interval with Josh Pin curling home a well-taken effort into the corner of the net from just inside the box.

The full-time whistle blew after a concerted effort from the Gloucestershire side, whose remaining league fixtures are at Brimscombe & Thrupp (Monday 23 April, 7.45pm) and Brackley Town Saints (Wednesday 25th April, 7.45pm).

Highmoor Ibis 3

Fairford Town 1

FAIRFORD Town had a day to forget as they suffered a 3-1 defeat to relegation rivals Highmoor Ibis on Saturday.

Without regular goalkeeper Ben Mitchell, ruled out for the remainder of the season with a dislocated finger, the Reds saw Charles Steward return in goal.

But he could do nothing to prevent the home side from taking the points as a second half goal from Nathan Hawkins was the visitors’ only real impact on the encounter.
