PUPILS from Cirencester Deer Park School took to the streets of Cirencester to promote their upcoming production of Legally Blonde Jr through a series of flash mobs.

The students showcased their talents to the public around the Market Square and shoppers at Tesco and on Cricklade Street, performing two numbers from the musical, 'What You Want' and 'Whipped into Shape', which involved a variety of energetic cheerleader stunts and acrobatics.

Snow and freezing conditions did little to dampen the enthusiasm of the cast members, who were keen to promote the show, which opens next Wednesday, with their spirited performances.

Theo in Year 8 said: "I really enjoyed the flashmob, it was great fun and we got to perform in three different locations. I think it was really successful."

Year 11 student Kaitlyn added: "It was freezing cold but it was so much fun and was a great opportunity to promote our show in the local community."

Over 100 pupils are involved in the preparation for this show and pupils have been able to showcase their skills in singing, acting, dancing, playing instruments, designing costumes, creating set and technical skills in lighting and sound.

Legally Blonde Jr follows the transformation of Elle Woods as she tackles stereotypes, snobbery and scandal in pursuit of her dreams.

When Elle's high school boyfriend, Warner, dumps her and heads to Harvard, claiming she's not "serious" enough, Elle takes matters into her own hands, crafting a showy song-and-dance personal essay and charming her way into law school.

  •  Tickets for Legally Blonde Jr are now on sale and can be purchased from the school reception, in person or via phone 01285 653447. Performances take place at 7pm on Wednesday February 21, Thursday February 22 and Friday, February 23.
