Police investigating a fatal crash which happened on the A40 yesterday are appealing for witnesses.

The collision happened at about 3.15pm on the A40 between the junction with the turning to Yanworth and the roundabout junction with A429 near Northleach and involved a silver Audi A4, a gold Citroen Picasso and a lorry.

The driver of the Audi, a man in his thirties, suffered serious injuries and died at the scene.

His next of kin has been informed.

The drivers of the Citroen and the lorry, both men, were not physically injured but shaken by the incident.

The A40 remains closed at this time to allow vehicles to be recovered and diversions are in place.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or who saw any of the three vehicles before the collision occurred, and has not already spoken to police, is asked to call Gloucestershire Constabulary on 101 or email 101@gloucestershire.police.uk quoting incident 247 of February 7.

Police are also keen to speak to anyone who had a dash cam which may have recorded key material to contact them.

Police have been informed that the road is not expected to re-open until tomorrow morning.
