STAFF at a playgroup in South Cerney are celebrating after receiving a grading of 'outstanding' in every category during their latest Ofsted inspection.
The Duke of Gloucester playgroup, which currently has 43 children on its register, were given the highest award following the Ofsted inspection on January 11.
During the visit the inspector observed staff interactions with the children in play activities indoors and outdoors, and looked at available resources at the Duke of Gloucester barracks.
Manager Carole Mercier said: "We are extremely proud of this achievement. We are extremely grateful for the on-going support of the parents and carers at the Duke of Gloucester Playgroup. The inspector had discussions with parents and took account of their views, along with written testimonials."
In her report, Ofsted inspector Jan Harvey wrote: "The quality of teaching across the nursery is outstanding. The dedicated staff team has created a rich and very stimulating learning environment that captures children's interest and imagination. Children are curious and thoroughly enjoy investigating. They maintain excellent concentration for extremely long periods."
Carole said: "We were delighted that they were able to see that the children are visibly happy, very involved and concentrate for long periods in their chosen play."
The inspector also praised the safeguarding at the Playgroup. Carole added: "Our priority at the Duke of Gloucester Playgroup is always the safety and well-being of the children."
