A 19-YEAR-OLD student has died after being struck by a car as he walked along the A433 Tetbury Road towards Cirencester, it has been reported. 

The incident took place at around 5.30am on Saturday, with three ambulances, a rapid response vehicle and a doctor all sent to the scene.

The teenager was taken to Southmead Hospital in a critical condition, having suffered a serious head injury.

Police carried out an extensive seven-hour investigation of the scene, which saw the road closed in both directions between the Culkerton crossroads and A429 junction until 12.30pm.

It is believed the man was walking to Cirencester from Culkerton.
