EXAM results day is one of the most stressful times to be a student and the horror of opening the envelope to discover that you have completely failed to even achieve a grade, must be an awful feeling.

But that is the situation facing an entire class of Malmesbury School students including Molli Blake who, because of a mixup somewhere along the line, has been given a U grade for her hairdressing and beauty course.

It is not yet clear where the fault lies and this has led to a dispute between the school and exam board VTCT.

The course administrators say that Malmesbury School’s own internal moderation process did not identify that the coursework completed by students only partially satisfied the assessment criteria.

This is a suggestion that the school refutes and there is now an investigation underway.

Students like Molli have been left in the terrible position of not being accepted onto their preferred course, meaning VTCT and the school, owe it to them to provide answers quickly.
