DANNY KENT is likely to learn today whether he will continue to replace injured Spanish racer Iker Lecuona in Sunday's Monster Energy Grand Prix of Catalunya in Barcelona.

Kent, who won the Moto3 GP race at this track en route to winning the 2015 world championship, deputised for Lecuona on the Garage Plus Interwetten Moto2™ team at last weekend's Italian Grand Prix in Mugello.

The Spaniard is due to be X-rayed to see whether he has recovered from the injuries he sustained in Le Mans.

Kent, back in the Moto2 paddock, was forced to retire from the Mugello race after crashing out when in a promising 10th place. Thankfully he was uninjured.

Kent, who grew up in Tetbury, had looked better with each spin on the new bike in practice and qualifying and was racing strongly with the leaders at the time of his exit.

Kent said: “For me and for the team, I’m really disappointed not to have seen the chequered flag, but I have to admit that this weekend was positive.

"The start was good, I was fighting in the top 10, that’s what we wanted.

"I felt good with the bike, but I got out in turn No.12 and when I found myself in the gravel I could not keep the bike on its wheels.

"Thanks to the whole team for giving me this opportunity, it was a great experience.”
