POLICE are warning owners of Land Rovers in the Cotswolds to be vigilant after two Defenders were stolen on Monday (November 28) in what are believed to be linked offences.

The first theft took place on Chapel Lane in Mickleton between 9am and 7pm, with the white Defender, registration DX54 MKN, stolen without the keys. The second vehicle, blue with registration AO54 CZE, was then stolen from Folly Field in Bourton-on-the-Water between 8.15pm and 8.45pm.

The vehicle was also stolen without the keys from the driveway, with the owner at home at the time of the theft.

The incidents are being treated as linked and officers are conducting enquiries to trace those responsible.

Where possible, police are advising owners keep their vehicle in the garage or park another car behind it on the driveway, set the security alarm or place a locking device on the steering wheel.

It is likely the registration plates have been changed since the thefts, but anyone who has seen the Land Rovers should call 101 quoting incidents 471 and 509 of November 28.
