A DISNEY Channel actress will be voyaging to Cirencester to give acting and singing workshops to teenagers.

Teens in the Cotswolds will soon be able to meet Jennifer Veal, who appeared on TV show Jessie as Agatha and who is the voice of Ally in the series of The Descendants: Wicked World.

The acting and singing workshops, which will be taking place in Cirencester on August 18, are being led by Jennifer and singer and songwriter Livvy Nicole.

The workshops will also take place in London on August 17 and in Manchester on September 3.

Jennifer, who is back in the UK after shooting for a Fox TV show in London on Thursday, August 4, said: “There are a lot of smaller places with talented children who don’t have access to the relevant training. That’s why I’m targeting places like Cirencester for my workshops.

“I really want to share my experience with young people that want to be in the industry. I want children to get out of the house. Even if they don’t end up in acting or singing, I think it’s such a wonderful thing for confidence building and doing something different.

“I think the main thing with acting is being able to be directed and stand up and create something different.

“In my workshops, I will be focusing on improvisation and scene study. There are so many actors, actresses, singers and artists out there, so you have to be the different person.

“I’m just building their confidence. I want them to think they can be themselves and be great.

“There’s so much criticism about children on social media and they need to know that they can be who they are.”

But there’s another reason why Jennifer has chosen to come to Cirencester, her aunt and uncle and their three girls live in Malmesbury.

She said: “My aunt’s children do a lot of singing and acting but they have to go to London to do it. Her children inspired me to do these workshops in the Cotswolds.

“It’s a lot to get your children to London in the weekends and pay for the classes.

“I went to boarding school in London when I was 12 because that was the only place to get training.”

Jennifer’s first acting job was when she performed at the Warwick Arts Centre at the age of nine. She then studied in London at the Sylvia Young Theatre School, where stars such as Rita Ora and Amy Winehouse attended, and the Central School of Speech and Drama.

She started working at Disney Channel at the age of 14 in the 2007 comedy series, As the Bell Rings.

Jennifer, 24, born in Coventry, has been living in Los Angeles since she was 18.

On living in Los Angeles, she said: “When I moved to LA, I was a small fish in a huge huge pond and you have to find the confidence to say that you are a great actress. Just having the confidence and training to go and book these jobs myself was something I had to find.

“I want people in smaller towns to know that they can do that even in London.”
