A CANNABIS farm has been busted in Fairford.

Four officers searched a home in High Street yesterday morning finding a “large quantity” of the plant, thought to have a street value of around £500.

The Class C drug was found hanging above the boiler tank in the bathroom where police believe it was put to dry out.

The officers from Cirencester Police Station also seized hydroponic equipment and other gear used for growing cannabis.

A 48-year-old man is under investigation on suspicion of supplying drugs.

The officers sought a warrant from magistrates after suspicions were raised by nearby residents.

As they moved in on their target a man left the property, meaning they did not have to force open the door.

PC Stewart Liddle-Peters, Fairford beat officer, said: “We executed this warrant after local residents raised their concerns and suspicions about the property.

“We hope this action shows our determination to tackle drug crime and provides reassurance to communities that we will act on intelligence given to us. A 48-year-old male is now under investigation for drugs supply offences.

A police spokesman said: “Anyone who suspects drug activity in their area is urged to call police on 101. You can also contact the independent crime-fighting charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or through their anonymous online form at crimestoppers-uk.org.
