DO you fancy playing at Cirencester’s biggest festival?

Local acts, musicians and bands are encouraged to submit demos to get a slot at the Phoenix Festival, which sees around 15,000 people gather in the Abbey Grounds.

The free event, this year on August 27 and 28, is now in its fourth year and boasts five stages: the Main Stage, the Vaults Stage, the Let’s Play Open Mic Music Tent; the Arena and a DJ Station and Workshops.

Now organisers are hoping to get more local talent involved.

Shirley Alexander, chair of Cirencester Community Development Trust which supports the festival, said “We have had some great acts over the years from all different types of musical backgrounds and genres from rap to world music.

"The performing areas offer an opportunity to showcase a variety of talents and for many provide the chance to learn about playing live and in front of an audience. So if you are a performer and you’ve got the talent, then we want to hear from you”

The cut off date for entrants in June 30.

“There is no age limit and we do not mind what style of music you play from modern to classic covers, original compositions, classical to contemporary pieces. If you play or sing at open mic nights, play an instrument at school or just at home, the Let’s Play Music Open Mic Stage is perfect for you. If you’ve got the talent, then we want to hear it."
