POLITICIANS seem to spend more time in high-vis and hard hats than they do in suits and ties these days.

And that was certainly the order of the day for Cotswold MP Geoffrey Clifton-Brown as he inspected a new retirement development in Cirencester.

The Conservative politician was visiting McCarthy and Stone’s Tetbury Road development on the site of the old T H White garage, which was granted planning permission last year by a single vote.

The new development will be made up of 34 one and two-bedroom apartments with a 31-space car park.

Mr Clifton-Brown MP said the visit was a “pleasure”.

“Living independently and securely is so important and with an ever-ageing population, it’s great to see developments like this in Cirencester, which will help local homeowners maintain their lifestyle with ease," he said.

“This is a really exciting time for the town with many areas undergoing regeneration, not least the former vacant T H White site where the scheme will be built, and which acts as an important gateway for people driving into Cirencester town centre.”
