CIRENCESTER head pro Ed Goodwin returned to form with a third place finish at the latest Gloucestershire and Somerset PGA Medal played at Minehead in Somerset.

With the stableford scoring system being deployed due to the the wet and windy weather, Goodwin notched 34 points to miss the top prize by just two points.

Clevedon assistant Ashley Mansell (36pts) topped the leaderboard ahead of European Tour star David Dixon (35).

Some morning rain, relented to showers and then stopped altogether with some watery sunshine even appearing towards the end of play. One constant though was the stiff breeze.

Goodwin got back in the birdie groove at Minehead, though, as he made three gains to par during his round.

Five bogeys, however, left him with a total of 34 points but it meant he had third place all to himself, making his long journey from the other end of the two counties more worthwhile.
