OXFORD UNITED’S highly-rated youth team goalkeeper Jack Stevens will have to wait to make his debut for Cirencester Town after Tuesday night’s clash against Redditch was called off due to a frozen pitch.

Stevens looks set to become the side’s new number one shot-stopper for the rest of the campaign after replacing the departing veteran Glyn Garner this season, and is itching to showcase his talents between the sticks.

The teenager has been tipped for a bright future with Cirencester Town, and the stage was set for him to shine in the last few days, but poor weather conditions will mean he’s forced to wait to make his first league appearance.

Town were expected to face Slough on Saturday, January 16, but an inspection revealed the pitch was frozen. Frustratingly, it was a similar case for the Redditch clash.

Cirencester’s next league game is a trip to face Kings Lynn on Saturday, January 23, and the promising young goalkeeper will be hoping he can finally feature.
