JOHNNY VAREY of Cirencester stole the show by beating the experienced Korben Crocker from Premier ABC in Swansea, picking up best boxer of the night trophy in what was an all-action bout between two top boys.

Varey was getting his punches off a lot faster than his opponent Crocker.

The Welsh schoolboy international had no answer to Varey’s hand speed but still battled back gamely trying to salvage something from the bout, but to no avail.

Varey was seeking victory and won on a unanimous points decision.

Also on the show was Cirencesters Martin Jones making his ring debut against Decon Acebride from Rison ABC.

Jones made his mark from the start of the first round, landing left and right hand punches. He on a unanimous points decision in another highly entertaining bout.

Coach Simon Knowles said: "John has beat some good boys over the last twelve months, this for me was his best win, beating a top talented boy. Keep it up Johnny.

"That was Martin's first bout for the club and he put up a great performance against a boy that had had a couple of bouts. Well done.’’
