B Team Dinner
THE end-of-season B team dinner was held at Cirencester Golf Club on Friday.
Captain Jonathan Wells produced an interesting stats pack and delivered his comments on the team’s performance this year with his usual humour.
They won fewer than 50 per cent of their fixtures due in part to a drop-off in the form of some of the previous year’s stalwarts.
However, it must be remembered that the team were playing different clubs this year as a result of the A team’s league promotion.
The fact that the A team magnificently retained their place in the top flight for next season will give the B team a chance of avenge this year’s defeats.
At the awards ceremony after dinner, David Murray was named player of the season.
Wells has agreed to stay on as B team captain for another year but made it clear that he will definitely be stepping down after that, so budding captains should put themselves forward now.
Winter Fourball League THE Winter Fourball League (WFBL) is now under way and despite the poor weather over the last two weekends, play has been possible with the course holding up well; even the main greens have been used.
Congratulations to Richard Louisson and his staff for their excellent preparation of the course.
