IT WAS disappointing to lose to Somerset in the NatWest T20 Blast on Friday night, writes Jack Taylor.

To play in front of big crowds is what we strive for and to have eight or nine thousand in was incredible. The atmosphere was amazing and to have the Sky cameras there as well always adds to the occasion.

I was the “Sky Insider” which meant I was mic’d up in the field. They only came to me once so it wasn’t too much of a distraction.

When you play in front of a full house you just try to put it out of your mind and keep focusing internally and execute what you’ve practised. They bowled well and we would like to have got more runs in the power play but I think 165 was a competitive total, though we would have preferred 175-180.

They got off to a great start with Allenby and Myburgh but we pegged them back well and it was frustrating to lose in the last over.

We don’t have a great record against Somerset but I don’t think you can read too much into it. Twenty20 is pretty independent. They just turned up and played better than us in the key moments.

We don’t have much time to practise before the next game, with the Championship match against Essex. But we are definitely still backing ourselves to make the quarter finals. We are still in a decent position in the group.

We have Sussex at the Bristol County Ground on Friday night then Surrey away next week and if we get results in both of those we will be in a great position.

We hope as many people as possible will come down for the Sussex match which is our last T20 at Bristol. Having a big crowd in like for Somerset really lifts the boys and we hope we can put on a winning performance for them on Friday.
