A COUPLE from Cirencester is celebrating 60 years of happy marriage with a party with all their family and friends.
John, 81, and Ludmilla, 83 - or Ludi - Jeffery were married in Croydon 50 years ago today, on May 21 1955.
Aged 21 and 23, the couple initially set up home in Norfolk until Mr Jeffery's work with the RAF took them to live in Aden on the Red Sea. They then returned to England for a spell before moving to Singapore. They returned to the UK in 1967, and bought their first home together in Fairford.
When asked what the secret was to a long and happy marriage Mr Jeffery said: "We just love each other."
Mrs Jeffery added: "We don't like to be apart. We always wanted to be together."
The pair have four children and five grandchildren. They now live in Cirencester and have been there for 27 years.
Mr and Mrs Jeffery will be celebrating 60 years of married life at Stratton House Hotel this Saturday with family and friends.
