TV star Adam Henson proudly cut the ribbon to Bourton-on-the-Water's new community centre on the weekend.

The new George Moore Community Centre was a hive of activity on the weekend as residents celebrated its official opening. Adam Henson of the nearby Cotswold Farm Park cut the ribbon to the centre, before having a look around the facilities with more than 200 other visitors.

Chairman of Bourton Parish Council Bryan Sumner said there was a very warm response at the opening on Saturday morning.

"We were very pleased with the outcome and satisfied that we have achieved an excellent new, converted and modern community centre," said Cllr Sumner. "Adam spent three quarters of an hour with us going round all of the rooms and meeting as many people as possible. It was a real joy to have someone who is not only an international personality but someone who grew up in Bourton and someone whose parents still live in the village.

"We are very pleased that within the space of four and a half years we have achieved an excellent community centre which will serve the village for many years to come."

The community centre features a library, a police point, public rooms for people to hire, the parish council's headquarters, a community cafe and more.

All new facilities were opened up on the day with councillors, police officers and business owners on hand to talk about what the new centre could offer.
