A YOUNG drug dealer who went shoplifting just days after being given a suspended sentence has again been spared jail.

Kyle Brace, 20, was given a 21-month jail term, suspended for two years, in January after admitting four counts of possessing class A drugs with intent to supply.

One of the conditions was that Brace, from Malmesbury, stayed with his mother at her home in Athelston Place in the town when he was released from custody after the sentencing.

But he instead met up with friends in Chippenham, took drugs and went out stealing, plundering hundreds of pounds worth of clothes and shoes from TK Maxx, Swindon Crown Court heard today.

And after he was arrested for the thefts and then released on bail, he went out shoplifting again, stealing DVDs from WH Smith in Chippenham.

However, rather than activate the 21-month jail term, Judge Tim Mousley QC has allowed the suspended sentence to continue but added more conditions.

He put Brace on a tagged curfew at his mum's home in Athelston Place and banned him from Chippenham except for probation meetings.

The judge also added 50 hours unpaid work to the 100 he had already imposed when he put Brace on a drug rehabilitation requirement.

And he added: "Be in no doubt, if you breach this order in any way it won't be overlooked again. You have run out of chances."

The judge also added a month to the length of the suspended sentence, after Brace admitted two charges of theft, meaning he would be liable to a 22-month jail term should he breach the conditions again.

When Brace was sentenced in January, the court heard he had been caught by police twice within a few weeks early last year as he peddled drugs in Chippenham.

He was first arrested in the Wetherspoon's pub on Tuesday January 14 last year after someone spotted drug dealing taking place.

When officers arrived they searched Brace and found he had eight wraps of heroin and crack on him, with another six in a bag he had dropped.

His phone was found to have received 1,181 incoming calls of less than a minute and 300 texts, which was indicative of a drug dealer receiving orders from users, the court heard.

Brace was then arrested on a bus in Chippenham on Thursday February 6 last year for other matters and again found with 10 wraps of drugs.
