RESIDENTS of Wiltshire are being warned to “take extra care” when firefighters go on strike next week.
As part of an on-going national dispute between the Fire Brigades' Union and the Government over pension reforms, a 24-hour walkout will take place from 7am, Wednesday 25 February, until 7am, Thursday 26 February.
As with previous strikes, Wiltshire Fire & Rescue Service will be providing a reduced emergency response.
Fire fighting and other essential services will be maintained across the county.
Chief Fire Officer Simon Routh-Jones, said: "It is only members of the Fire Brigades’ Union who will be striking, so we will be able to respond to 999 calls during this 24 hour period thanks to our non-FBU personnel, most of whom are retained by us as on-call firefighters.
"However, it may take us a little longer than usual to arrive at incidents, so I would urge everyone to take extra care, which will hopefully reduce the number of calls we receive.”
