ON Sunday, Cirencester U12 girls' hockey teams played host to Worcester Hockey Club who brought their A and B squads.
Worcester are regular rivals at the Cheltenham tournaments organised each month and the matches are always hotly contested.
The Cirencester A team played Worcester A twice and their B team once, while the reverse was the case with the B teams.
The games were played over 20 minutes rather than the normal 12-minute duration.
The games were used as a trial for the forthcoming County Cup on March 8.
The A team played well against Worcester in the first game narrowly beating them 1-0 – a fair result given how well the girls performed.
Against Worcester's B team some good, well-constructed hockey resulted in a 3-0 victory.
The final game was much tougher against their A team.
Worcester came out fighting and wanted revenge. Cirencester had many players out of position and did not field its strongest side. Worcester played very well to beat Cirencester 5-0.
