THE point-to-point season has just started and finishes in mid-June. We nominate some local stables to watch – and a horse from each which hopefully will be worth following over the next six months.

Sarah Stafford (Guiting Power)

GUY DISNEY has regained his point-to-point licence after losing the lower part of his right leg while on active service in Afghanistan.

Swing Bill, formerly with David Pipe, could see Guy back in the winners’ enclosure.

Tash Seely (Bourton-on-the-Water)

BRIZE NORTON won the North Ledbury Members last year and he will be aiming for a repeat performance but Seely is also contemplating other options and might try him over four miles.

Anthea Morshead (Adlestrop)

LOCKED INTHEPOCKET, who has finished second to Oscar Time in a Wetherby Hunter Chase, will be the mount this season of the trainer’s 17-year-old son Henry, who studying A-Levels at Cheltenham College and has been honing his skills over the summer at George Baker's Manton yard.

Claire Hart (Adlestrop)

CLAIRE HART has eight horses to run this season including Gift Of Dreams, who won his Maiden at Maisemore and has been placed in Restricteds subsequently.

Andrew Campbell (Condicote)

ANDREW CAMPBELL recorded his biggest success when Charles Bruce scored at Cheltenham in May 2013.

Andrew’s wife Alice will be working in the yard on a full time basis this year and that is bound to have a beneficial effect, and they will also have access to Martin Keighley's gallops when required.

Mon Homme ran twice last year, finishing runner-up at Mollington and Dingley and on that evidence a Maiden looks a formality.

Axelle Wall (Coln St Dennis)

AFTER securing his fifth West Midland Area Riders’ Championship, Mark Wall now has a licence to train under Rules and that means that his wife Axelle will assume responsibility for the point-to-pointers.

The Walls’ main hope for the season is the ultra-consistent Flying Gnu.

She had a good season in 2012, failed to hit the same heights in 2013, but returned to form again last year.
