A COUPLE from Minety are to host a charity golf tournament in aid of Children’s Hospice South West following the success of their event last year.

The second edition of their competition will take place on April 3 with tee times from 7:30am to 2.30pm at South Cerney Golf Club.

As well as the golf there will also be a raffle, an evening presentation of prizes and a disco open to competitors and their friends.

Paul Sparrowhawk, one of the organisers, explained that last year’s event raised around £4,500 and that this year would only be an improvement.

He said: “I enjoyed organising it so much last year that we decided to do it every year.

“I think we’ll always do it for children’s charities because we’re lucky to have two children who are healthy and fit, but we are aware that there are people who aren’t so lucky.”

The 37-year-old said that they were already taking names for people to enter despite only recently having advertised the event and were expecting several of the teams from last year.

Entry for a team of four costs £120 and businesses can sponsor a hole for £100. For more information or to enter contact Paul on paul.sparrowhawkltd@yahoo.co.uk or on 07741 273503.
