WATER bills in Malmesbury could fall in the New Year after an announcement from Wessex Water that its customers will pay less each year for the next five years.
The company has said it will keep bills below the rate of inflation, meaning the household bill for Wessex Water customers should fall by £39 and not increase.
At the same time, the company will be investing more than £2 billion to maintain and improve services for customers while creating hundreds of new jobs.
Chief Executive Colin Skellett said: “Our multi-million pound investment programme is based on the views of our customers, delivering improvements in infrastructure, resilience and higher standards of customer service.
“At the same time, by reducing returns to shareholders and further improving our efficiency, we have been able to lower customers’ bills in real terms.”
As well as potentially reduced bills Wessex Water is also completing its integrated water supply grid in Wiltshire with £100million being spent on the project over the next eight years.
