WEPL Wiltshire 2nd XI Division
Devizes 48 all out
Lechlade 49-3.
LECHLADE seconds won comfortably at Devizes thanks to a sensational bowling performance from their prodigious young talent Jacob David-Ward.
The 14-year-old seamer opened the Lechlade bowling attack on Saturday and destroyed the home side's batting in just 30 astonishing deliveries taking seven wickets for just eight runs.
Lechlade captain Charles Offord said: “I’ve never seen anything like it. It was just a procession of batsmen.”
Of the seven-wicket haul, young David Ward clean-bowled four of his hapless victims with two more being caught and one trapped LBW.
Devizes were dismissed for 48 and the Lechlade batsman knocked off the runs in less than 10 overs, with Ali Killham top scoring with 26 to secure the seven-wicket win.
Lechlade II top the Wiltshire 2nd XI Division in what has been a 100 per cent winning start for the club's top two sides this season.
