FAIRFORD failed to take their chances, losing out again on the road to a competitive Trowbridge side.
Trowbridge II 28
Fairford 8
Fairford came out of the blocks well and gained the better of the breakdown and were rewarded with an early penalty, duly converted by full back Andy Waite.
That was all Fairford could do in an otherwise eventful first half for both sides. Trowbridge led 6-3 following two penalties.
In the second half poor execution let the visitors down in both attack and defence. Poor handling meant they failed to mount a serious threat to the Trowbridge try line, while defensively poor kicking and organisation allowed Trowbridge to score two of their three tries on the counter attack.
Fairford's only try came from quick-thinking winger Colin Bullock, picking up a loose ball in midfield and showing pace alien to his years, running in from the halfway line.
