CIRENCESTER Primary School has had its commitment to global learning recognized with a prestigious British Council award.
The school received an International School Award for its outstanding work in bringing the wider world into the classroom.
International work at the school includes Comenius projects with partners in Poland, France, Italy, Norway and the Netherlands.
Both children and teachers have benefitted from educational and cultural visits to enhance the school’s commitment to global learning.
And pupils are also learning through the International Primary Curriculum aimed at extending their knowledge of the world.
Headteacher Graham Horton said: “We are absolutely delighted to be given this award. It is clear that the British Council recognised the value and the variety of international opportunities enjoyed by the pupils at CPS.
“The award is testament to the hard work and dedication of the staff at CPS in ensuring that our pupils understand their place in the wider world”.
Last year more than 800 schools received International School Award accreditation, including a wide range of schools from a variety of different backgrounds and areas across the UK.
