A YOUNG forestry student from Moreton-in-Marsh has been presented with a prestigious award.
Harry Loewe, 18, is studying towards a level three extended diploma in countryside management at Hartpury College in Gloucester and was recently awarded the Royal Forestry Society (RFS) Silky Fox Handsaw Award.
The award is presented annually to a range of outstanding students studying in woodland management field and was presented to Harry by RFS Gloucestershire division member Rob Guest, who said it was an exciting time to be coming into the forestry and arbocultural industry.
"Practical forestry skills are the lifeblood of the industry," he said.
"At a time when we are facing a number of challenges to woodlands and trees from pests and disease, it is essential that students are learning best practice and the latest techniques to help us protect and grow our woodlands for the future."
