Minety II 53 Supermarine II 7.
BACK to full strength, Minety seconds proved too much for a short-handed Supermarine.
For once this season, Minety had a complete squad and it was the opposition who struggled to field a full side.
Although Supermarine had a very strong and physical pack, they started with only 14 players and their opponents took full advantage. At the interval it was 26-0 to Minety, with tries from Ashley Windle, Richard Garbett and Milo Hartley, plus one from Dellam Murray, who also kicked three conversions.
Playing down the slope after the break, Minety proved too much for a tiring Supermarine. Prop Matt Hooper crashed over for a try while Windle, Garbett and Hartley all touched down for their second scores of the game. Man-of-the-match Windle added to his tally by also kicking a conversion.
Supermarine had one last period of pressure on the Minety goal line and when their hosts wheeled a five-metre scrum, the visitors were awarded a penalty try.
With time running out, Supermarine kicked the restart only for Minety’s Gareth Snoad to catch it cleanly on the wing. He made off down the hill, leaving the visitors trailing in his wake, his late try making the final score 53-7 in Minety’s favour.
