Cirencester

  • ROMAN Shields, family drop-in session with James Harris. Corinium Museum, Park Street, 10-11am. Join the session to create your very own Roman shield to take home. Suitable for ages 3 and above. Cost: £2.50 per child, £1.50 for season ticket holders.
  • BECOME an Archaeologist - Discovery Zone with Heather Dawson at the Corinium Museum from 2-3.30pm. Have a go at digging for real Roman artefacts from our collection, drawing and trying to identify them.

Hatherop

  • THE Cotswold Arcadians will be performing Shakespeare’s romantic play, Pericles at Hatherop Castle until Saturday, July 29. Once again, there are many of the Lechlade Players involved in this production. Tickets available on line from arcadians.org

  • RURAL Cinema - Ethel & Ernest, Corinium Museum, 2.15pm. Based on Raymond Briggs’ award-winning graphic novel Ethel & Ernest, a funny and touching tribute to his parents. An entertaining and heart-warming story about two people who fall in love against the background of immense social change in the mid-20th Century.   • ABBEY Walk at 12noon (free, but donation would be welcome to the Abbey 900 Legacy Fund). Meet by LEGO Abbey build in the Parish Church of St John Baptist, Market Place, Cirencester. Learn where the Abbey was situated in the Abbey Grounds, how important it was to the life of Cirencester in medieval times and how it influenced the town we live and work in today. An Abbey 900 Festival initiative.
  • ONE Vision of Freddie, a Freddie Mercury tribute act at the Jubilee 77 Club. Doors open 8.30pm.

Fairford

  • SUMMER holiday activities  for youngsters aged between six and 14 years begin today and continue until Tuesday, August 22. The series of two-hour workshops at Fairford Community Centre include a range of activities such as African drumming, street dance, circus skills and music technology.
