ONE of the most popular charity events staged by the Rotary Club of the North Cotswolds takes place at St Edward’s Church in Stow-on-the-Wold on Saturday, October 1.
The annual Youth and Music Concert, in aid of the Rotary Foundation is currently celebrating its centenary and to mark the milestone, the concert includes a performance by Triple Time, a wind ensemble comprising students from The Cotswold School at Bourton-on-the-Water.
Triple Time comprises around 10 musicians playing flute, clarinet and bass clarinet.
Soloists who a few months ago demonstrated their undoubted talent at 2016 Rotary Young Musician of the Year competitions in the North and South Cotswolds will also be on stage, including 14-year old Hannah Brooks-Hughes, who won the senior competition at the Cheltenham event earlier this year.
This talented violinist will play The Lark Ascending by Ralph Vaughan-Williams, as well as the demonstration piece Yankee Doodle by Vieutemps. and will accompany her seven-year-old younger brother, Hugo, a cellist who is a member of the National Children’s Orchestra of Great Britain.
Eighteen-year-old Katie Jenner, runner-up in the South Cotswolds competition, will be playing both clarinet and saxophone.
- The concert begins at 7.30pm. Tickets, £10 adults, £5 for children from The Borzoi Bookshop, in Church Street, Stow-on-the-Wold, members of North Cotswold Rotary Club, or the church on Saturday night.
