AS PART of Cirencester College's Arts Festival, the Sundial Theatre Company will be performing Germania at the Sundial Theatre on Tuesday, June 28 and Wednesday, June 29.

Written and directed by Duncan Walthew, head of performing arts at the College, this is a re-telling of Wagner's famous ring cycle for a young, modern audience-in one hour instead of the 15 hours that the opera’s take.

Designed as a sequel to Scandimania, their Edinburgh festival hit of 2014, the piece involves 12 actors who combine physical theatre and storytelling to tell the epic story.

The cast are using the performances as ensemble training for their new Edinburgh Festival show, After the Flood, which will be at the Sundial Theatre in September.

The Rhinegold ring creates hatred and destruction for all who seek to own it. The fates of Gods and mortals are tragically fixed. But a hero might make the difference.

All members of the College, Sundial Theatre Company gives students the chance to take on organisational and artistic roles to help them gain work skills related to the theatre world.
