Local Plan Update: Call for sites for ‘Green’ Uses and Gypsy and Traveller Pitches
Notice of Public Consultation: Call for Sites
Do you know of any land that might be suitable for future green uses or Gypsy and Traveller pitches?
In accordance with the Town and Country Planning (Local Planning) (England) Regulations 2012, notice is hereby given that the council is inviting submissions through a ‘call for sites’ between 1 June until 13 July 2021.
The council is currently preparing a Local Plan Update which will set a framework for future development across the borough to at least 2039. A general call for sites with future development potential was completed in Summer 2019.
The council is now undertaking a second call for sites focusing on ‘green’ sites and land for Gypsy and Traveller pitches. It invites interested parties such as landowners, community groups and site promoters to come forward with land opportunities, sites or projects that could meet wider borough needs for the following uses:
* Biodiversity Net Gain offsetting,
* Nutrient offsetting,
* Suitable Alternative Natural Greenspace (SANGs) provision,
* Renewable energy and associated infrastructure,
* Carbon offsetting (such as tree planting for carbon capture), and
* Gypsy and Traveller pitches.
Provision of these types of sites is important to help ensure that the Local Plan Update delivers a sustainable strategy and to ensure that the needs of all of our community are met. The identification of ‘green sites’, in particular, will support the delivery of the council’s adopted Climate and Air Quality Strategy (2021), and the Government’s environmental goals set out in the upcoming Environment Bill and the 25 Year Environmental Plan.
To find out more, view relevant guidance or obtain a copy of the Site Submission Form please either see the council’s website at https://www.basingstoke.gov.uk/CfS-2021 or contact the council’s Planning Policy Team by telephone on 01256 844844 or email at firstname.lastname@example.org
All site submissions must be received by the Council in writingby 4pm Tuesday 13 July 2021.
By e-mail to: email@example.com
Or by post to: Planning Policy Team Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council Civic Offices London Road Basingstoke RG21 4AH
Please note that putting a site forward does not guarantee that the council will allocate, or support, submitted proposals as all sites will need to be judged against relevant considerations.
Any person who has submitted a site may withdraw their submission at any time by giving notice in writing to the council either by e-mail or by post at the addresses given above.
