A31 TRUNK ROAD (M27 JUNCTION 2 TO ASHLEY HEATH ROUNDABOUT) TEMPORARY TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS
Notice is hereby given that Highways England Company Limited has made an Order on the A31 Trunk Road in the County of Hampshire, under Section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 because works are proposed to be executed on the road. The effect of the Order is, in phases, to:-
1. authorise the overnight closure of -

(a) the westbound carriageway of the A31 between M27 Junction 2 and Picket Post;

(b) the eastbound carriageway of the A31 between Ashley Heath Roundabout and M27 Junction 1;

(c) all slip roads leading to and from the lengths of carriageway in 1. (a) and (b) above; and

(d) all side roads at junction with the lengths of carriageway in 1. (a) and (b) above.

2. impose an overnight 50 mph speed limit on -

(a) the westbound carriageway of the A31 between a point 100 metres east of the entry slip road at M27 Junction 1 and

a point 200 metres east of the exit slip road at Picket Post;
(b) the eastbound carriageway of the A31 between a point 2000 metres east of the entry slip road at Picket Post and a point 100 metres east of the entry slip road at M27 Junction 1; and

(c) all slip roads leading to and from the lengths of carriageway described in 2. (a) and (b) above.

3. authorise the 24-hour closure of any lay-by adjacent to the lengths of carriageway described in 1. (a) and (b) above.

These measures are in the interests of
road safety while contractors undertake
installation of new emergency crossing points,
carriageway works, highways maintenance
works and all associated works.
It is expected that the work will last for
approximately 7 weeks starting on or after
Monday 7th October 2019. The overnight
closures will take place between 21:00 and
06:00 (maximum period).
The Order will come into force on
5th October 2019 and have a maximum
duration of eighteen months.
Traffic affected by the closures will be diverted
using A36 and theA338.
The temporary speed limits, closures and
diversion routes will be clearly indicated by
traffic signs when they are in operation during
the works period.
