Daglingworth Women's Institute (Standard, March 20, 1954)

MRS Godfrey very kindly held the March meeting at Lower End House when there were 23 members and one visitor present, Mrs Townsend presiding. The resolutions on the agenda for the half-yearly council meeting were read with Mrs Townsend going as delegate. The pantomime which was produced by Mrs Godfrey on February 27 at the village hall was very much enjoyed by the large audience which attended and much credit is due to the producer and Drama Club, who had put in so much hard work to make it such a success. The net profit being £12 15s 6d.

Mrs Noble reported on the village hall committee meeting which she attended. Funds are urgently needed and all are asked to help as much as possible to raise the necessary funds. After business Mrs Godfrey gave an interesting talk on the WI Movement for which she was thanked by Miss Ford. The competition for the best pot of marmalade was won by 1 Mrs Scrutton, 2 Mrs Noble. The judges were Mrs Hoes-Gore and Mrs F Smith. Hostesses were Mrs Godfrey and Mrs Murphy and the social half-hour was arranged by Miss Ford and Miss A’Bear. Many thanks were accorded to Mrs Godfrey for a very pleasant evening.

Mothers’ Union (Standard, July 10, 1954)

A PARTY of Mothers’ Union members and friends from Daglingworth and the Duntisbournes visited St Anne’s Diocesan House, Cheltenham, on Thursday, June 24. On arrival they were welcomed by Miss Firth, the warden, who explained the use of the House and its place in this Diocese and to others who come from outside. Then the party split into two and were shown the working of the house from kitchen to top floor. A very good tea was enjoyed in the garden, produced on the spot and the afternoon ended with Evensong in the Chapel.
