A DIESAL car at Cirencester Town Station in February 1959, the year the line was threatened with closure.The diesel rail bus service was an attempt by British Rail to bring down costs but despite a concerted local campaign, passenger services were finally withdrawn on April 6 1964, followed by complete closure on October 4 1965.
