THE Mayor of London says the chances of surface-to-air missiles being fired at the Olympics are less likely than England winning the UEFA cup.

The missiles at Blackheath and Oxleas Wood, which can travel more than twice the speed of sound, have triggered fears for residents about the impact if fired.

Speaking to News Shopper Boris Johnson said: "I want to allay everybody’s fears and say that the chances of those being used are absolutely vanishingly remote.

"It is a very very minute probability – England are much more likely to win the UEFA cup."

He went on to say it was necessary to take precautions for a secure Olympics.

When asked if he could see himself as the future Prime Minister, the Mayor replied emphatically: "No, no, I have got a tough job here already."

The fan of News Shopper added: "I love the News Shopper, it is a great paper."
