Goodwin, Bennett and Harraway shine at Teign Valley PGA event

CIRENCESTER golf professionals shone at the latest West Region PGA tournament at Teign Valley Golf Club in Devon.
In the Tuesday Pro-am, Ed Goodwin came home the joint winner with Dinnaton's Paul Hendriksen and Stuart Barrett from Wrangaton with a 66 (-4) on his first visit to the course.
Ed’s round included six birdies and two bogeys.
In the subsequent two-day West Region PGA Fourball tournament, Gareth Bennett and James Harraway were arguably denied an outright victory when the second day’s play was cancelled due to heavy rain.
Bennett and Harraway shot 63 (-7) on the first day to earn fourth place (one off the lead).
They were making further strides up the leaderboard when -2 after just five holes on the second day when the event was prematurely halted and the result determined by a play-off between the three pairings who shot –8 on the opening day. Goodwin and partner Daryl Kelley, from Filton Golf Club, shot 68 (-2) to finish in a tie for 29th place The in-form combination of Bennett and Harraway head for the National Fourball PGA qualifier at North Wilts Golf Club next month.
