Poulton lose another critical toss as Cranham sail to easy win
11:01am Monday 11th June 2012 in Sport
Readers Glos CCL Div 2.
Poulton 181 all out Cranham 182-0.
DESPITE a second week of carrying the bat for Poulton, Neil Ferreira's 114 was not enough to help his side compete against the excellent all-round performance of Cranham’s Pockett brothers, Benn and James.
As bowlers, Benn took four wickets and James three; as batsmen, Benn was 95 not out and James 72 not out.
Both must have been thankful that Poulton's heroic groundstaff had been working since 8am to ensure that the outfield and wicket was prepared for a game following a week of autumnal weather.
For the second time this year, Poulton's skipper Jody Lawrence faced a critical toss of the coin – and again lost it.
Cranham took immediate advantage, skittling Poulton out for 181 and then were able to enjoy a wicket that improved in the sun and gentle wind as they reached the total without loss.
