Deer Park student Weaving chases British 125cc championship

BRITISH Superbike rider Jordan Weaving raced to a deserved podium spot after a thrilling 125cc race at Snetterton on Sunday.

Cirencester Deer Park student Weaving, 15, came second in the fourth 125cc Monster Energy Motorstar British Championship.

The South African-born racer took an early lead in the 12-lap race before enjoying a great cat and mouse game with last year’s champion Kyle Ryde.

The two riders left the remainder of the field well behind and Weaving made what looked to be a decisive move to lead on the back straight of the final lap. However, Ryde regained the lead and his superior power pulled him over the line 0.035 seconds ahead of Weaving, who was delighted with his second position.

Weaving, who turned 15 only a fortnight ago, moves into second place in the championship standings after four rounds.

The next round is at Knockhill in Scotland next month.
