AS A forward, it was good to see us score another three goals – that is six in the last two games.

Matt, Adam and Steve took their goals well and it was important to end pre-season with a win.

But Adi was far from pleased with the two goals we conceded which again were avoidable. The timing was far from good either because if we had gone in at half-time 2-0 up, the game is as good as over.

Instead, we concede just before the break. We must learn from those mistakes.

Circumstances dictated that we played a ‘three’ at the back, but that is no excuse for the goals.

To be honest, though, with the defence we now have, I can’t see us letting in too many goals in the league.

Gary Thorne was one of our No 1 targets during the summer and he is going to be a huge player for us. He’s a good talker and he takes no prisoners – a proper defender.

And don’t think he is just a good header of the ball – he can play a bit, too.

We had a great journey back in the coach from Rothwell and then we took the players out in Swindon to show them the sights and have a team-bonding session.

We had a great time. In fact, apart from not keeping clean sheet, it was a perfect day.
