I WAS pleased to score three goals – and they were good goals – but I was disappointed with Cheltenham’s four goals.

For three of them we gave them far too much time on the ball and we gave away possession far too easily.

Having said that, Cheltenham had some very good players.

Jools and Duff had a good battle and I was pleased Jools got a very good goal.

Adam Heath did brilliantly for the third goal.

Adam Mahdi came in from Bristol Rovers and scored a great free kick with his left foot.

He wants football, he’s very fit having done a full pre-season with Rovers and he has got a great left foot. He just needs to get used to our way of playing.

I’ve agreed a month’s loan deal in principle with Rovers manager Paul Trollope and we just need get the paperwork done.

Adam won’t be involved on Saturday, but I hope he will down for training next Thursday and he will play at Uxbridge.

Ryan Shugar was unable to play against Cheltenham but he will be involved against Rothwell, after which I will make a final decision on him.

He’s in pole position if he does okay because I think he is better than we have got, but the finances need to be worked out.

I have given ‘pay as you play’ deals to four Academy lads – Dan Thompson, Rob Dean, Sean Bailey and Aaron Stevens.

They all need to be playing men’s football to develop and I would like to get them out on loan.

Dan’s injury is probably a week away from being right, while we will assess Ben Pugh ahead of Saturday’s game.

I have let Tom Dingle go back to Highworth as he didn’t do enough at this moment in time but, like the injured Josh Digby, who is still out for another two weeks, we will keep an eye on him.
