THE first half was a bit of a non-event as the 3-5-3 was not working well and they saw a lot of the ball.

We changed things at half-time and we were a lot better in the second half, closing them down and using the ball better.

It was good for Jools (Alsop) to get off the mark and he showed what he will bring to this club. He put himself about a bit and I think he could score 20 goals for us this season.

Obviously, he is not going to be doing a lot of tracking back, but if we get in quality crosses like the one for the goal, he will get on the end of them.

It is going to interesting to see who plays with him up front.

We have Matt Williams and Steve Robertson, but Robbo is playing catch-up after injuring his hip in the Gloucester City game last season, though we may give him 10 minutes against Highworth. We are also looking at Adam Heath and Luke Clennell and they both provide pace up front which perhaps we lacked last season.

Steve Davies and the other triallist did well and we will look at them all again, as well as some others, in the Highworth and Bristol City friendlies.

Chappy may even come back to play a part in those, while young Aaron Stevens is now back from the States.

And I’m constantly making phone calls and watching games to try and find a left back.
