Ashton Keynes U16s 6

Wanborough Juniors U16s 1

ASHTON Keynes U16s had not played since Christmas and started off sluggishly but they eventually hit six goals past Wanborough.

The visitors twice went close to taking the lead, with Tom Bradley's great headed goal line clearance from a corner denying Wanborough on the first attempt before Travis Woods pulled off a great diving save to thwart the second.

Ashton rallied to take control of the half, with a mixture of determined challenges and admirable build-up play.

The first goal came from a Bradley corner and, despite Wanborough clearing several strikes, Lewis Griffin finally buried the ball from close range.

Ewan Palmer's strike was glanced in by Charlie Cook to put Ashton 2-0 up at the interval.

The home side came under considerable pressure from a Wanborough strike force who have been ruthless so far this season, but the Ashton back four and keeper were faultless.

The momentum then changed and the goals started to flow thick and fast; the third of the game came from an inch-perfect free kick from David Arnett which Kieran Hiscock headed home at the far post, while Adam Robbins got his second for the club with a clinical finish to make it 4-0.

Wanborough forced in a consolation goal but Ashton Keynes hit back and Palmer lashed a stunner of a left-foot strike into the top corner before completing the scoring with his side's sixth goal.

MoM: Lewis Griffin.
