Cirencester Athletics and Triathlon Club

Linda Franks '5', Cheltenham, 5 miles road.

TONY SHELBOURN used the streets of Hatherley to smash a Cirencester Athletics Club MV70 record by a majestic 11min 30sec at the Linda Franks 5.

The club's tradition of good performances in this five-mile race was maintained with Tony winning not only his (new) MV70 age group but also the MV60 category.

First home for the club was Simon Campbell, holding on to last year’s sixth position despite knocking 15 seconds off his time.

Further back, it was great to see Karen Higuera back in race form after a long period off with injury and Barbara Thomas’ punishing racing schedule continues to pay off as she knocked 41 seconds off last year’s performance.

Meanwhile Liza Darroch used her first experience of the event to take more than three minutes off the club LV65 record.

RESULTS: 1, Oli Mott (Cheltenham Harriers) 25.45; 6, Simon Campbell 28.22; 57, Tony Shelbourn 33.44 (first MV70); 131, Karen Higuera 39.10; 169, Barbara Thomas 41.55; 180, Liza Darroch 43.16 (second FV65); 224, Ruth Fulford 49.45 (third FV65). 247 finished.

Slaughterford '9', nr Chippenham, 9 miles multi-terrain.

MARTIN NEILL, a lone representative for the club, fared less well in the muddy conditions of the Slaughterford 9, being down on both time and position from last year.

RESULTS: 1, Guy Woods (City of Bath AC) 57.37; 81, Martin Neill (1:13.54). 353 finished.

Swindon parkrun, 5km trail.

SATURDAY saw junior Luke Buck returning to great form to scrape under the 20-minute mark with a Parkrun PB.

The fast Swindon course saw him finish 14th overall and first junior.

Surely, an exciting future lies ahead for 13-year-old Luke.

He was joined by three other parkrun stalwarts including mum Caroline and Barbara Thomas who pocketed yet another first FV55 position.

RESULTS: 1, Alex Harris (unattached) 18.15; 14, Luke Buck 19.59 (first junior); 94, David Moss 24.07; 128, Caroline Buck 25.39; 148, Barbara Thomas 26.20 (first FV55). 454 finished.
