CONGRATULATIONS to Ampney St Peter-based dressage rider Lara Griffiths who has become engaged to her partner Billy Butler. Billy popped the question on Lara’s 27th birthday last week.
Lara has moved up 22 places in the world dressage ranking during 2015 and is trying to make the British squad at the Rio Olympics.
Billy was fifth in the Senior Men’s K1 race at the National Marathon Canoeing Championships this summer.
Lara and her mentor Laura Tomlinson will be heading to Wellington in Florida for some warm weather training in the New Year ahead of the European season. On January 22, Wellington will be a hot ticket as it is the venue for Rockin Rio, a huge fundraising party for the US equestrian teams hosted by rock star Bruce Springsteen and his partner Patti Scialfa.
The couple's daughter Jessica Springsteen has successfully competed in Nations Cup showjumping events for the US.
